I have loved apple butter for as long as I can remember, and this is a sweet and deliciously simple recipe. Try it on pancakes instead of maple syrup.

Not-Just-Apples Sauce

This thick and chunky sauce can be eaten on its own, paired with grilled meat or fowl, used as a spread to perk up a sandwich, or stirred into hot cereal for a special treat.

Blackberry Sauce

Although I love the flavor of blackberries, I often find even the ripest a touch too sour for my palate and spend ages after eating them picking minuscule seeds out of my teeth. I developed this recipe to harness the very essence of the fruit, producing what I refer to as “blackberry elixir”. This sauce can be used in place of syrup on pancakes, stirred into ice cream or yogurt, drizzled over grilled meat, and so much more. Think of it as blackberries minus the cringe.

Yields 2/3 cup.
