The 2nd Annual Holiday Bake-Off!

Okay everyone — I am finally caught up with laundry, time to think COOKIES! And cake, and candy, and MMmmmmm….

As a licensed commercial baker, I do realize I have an above average interest in all things sweet and lovely. But there’s no denying it’s the time of year when snowflakes dot the air (at least here in Maine), hot chocolate fills the mugs and children of all ages dream of sugar plums.

From now until Christmas, I will be highlighting festive treats, low sodium gift-giving ideas, and MORE on The Daily Dish. And as always, I am LOOKING FOR SOME MAGICAL ELVES TO HELP ME. (*wink*)

Do you have a favorite cookie recipe you would like to share with the world? Do you long for fame and/or glory? or simply want to WIN A PRIZE?!

I am holding a contest looking for irresistibly delicious holiday recipes. Last time round I restricted it to cookies & candy only, but if you’ve got a to-die-for dessert or similar gift-able something to share, heck, I’ll take that too.

NOTE: Although this site is devoted to low sodium cooking, your recipe need NOT be salt free. I will be adapting entries to meet sodium restrictions. All you need to do is THINK DELICIOUS and let me handle the rest.

To make a submission, email me. christy AT thedailydish DOT us. Write “Recipe Contest” in the subject line and be sure to include not only the recipe title, but list of ingredients and step-by-step directions.

I will be accepting submissions now through the end of next week – Friday, December 10th – and YES. You may enter more than once.

Of all entries, I will select 3 as best representative of the genre (low sodium deliciousness and gift-ability).  These three will not only be featured here on the site, but also WIN PRIZES.  In 2008 (1st Annual Bake-off), winners received Lindt Chocolate Snowmen and Truffles.

All of the winning recipes will be announced here, Wednesday, December 15th, and will be featured on this website – one per day. Winners will be contacted via email, and will receive not only the honor of having their recipe featured here on The Daily Dish, but ALSO A FABBBBBULOUS PRIZE!!

    The only recipe I would share actually comes from the original “Joy of Cooking” (pumpkin cookies but I tweaked the recipe with double the amount of baking powder, SO YUMMY). But it’s not mine, so I can’t enter BUT if you ever want something so freaking delicious you should definitely try it.

    P.S. The recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon of salt for a yield of 5 1/2 dozen cookies but how bad could it be to eliminate the salt entirely?

    Hayden, feel free to enter using the recipe — I’ll just state the recipe came from The Joy of Cooking. I can eliminate the salt altogether and switch to sodium free baking powder without any issue. The cookies sound delish! Send me that recipe! christy AT thedailydish DOT us! 🙂
