Sangria

Sangria is such a colorfully intoxicating drink, and I’m not just talking about the alcohol. It’s beautiful, delicious and refreshing, making it a terrific choice for summer get-togethers. Save your quality red wine for another time – the cheap stuff works best here. Many thanks to Lori & Joel (once again) for supplying ingredients.

SODIUM CONTENT: scant trace per serving

INGREDIENTS

Ice
1 1.5 L bottle inexpensive, fruity red wine, chilled (I highly recommend Nathanson Creek Merlot)
1 c. Triple Sec
1 orange, washed and sliced
1 lemon, washed and sliced
1 lime, washed and sliced
1-2 c. lemonade (more or less, to taste)

DIRECTIONS

Place the ice into a large pitcher (or better yet, gallon-sized thermos). Pour in the wine and triple sec and stir well to combine. Add in the fruit, then lemonade, and stir gently. Serve immediately or place in the refrigerator & chill before serving. Leftovers can be refrigerated up to 3 days.
