My name is Christy, but you can call me Dishy. I’m a writer, cookbook author, roller skater, chicken tender, wife, momma, and much more. I live in Portland, Maine with my family and our pets. When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll often find me outside, walking, hiking, trail running, or gardening. (Carrots are my favorite.)

I see you! Twenty years ago, I was diagnosed with an inner ear disorder called Ménière’s disease. I was half-deaf, super dizzy, and my only course of treatment was to give up salt. Back then, specialty diets weren’t a big thing and food blogs were scarce. There were very few low-sodium products in stores and only a handful of low-sodium cookbooks. My insurance wouldn’t cover a single visit to a registered dietitian. If I was going to get better, I was going to have to do it myself.
So I did. I bundled up my infant and toddler daughters, and we went to the library. I read everything I could about nutrition, low-sodium diets, and more. I started cooking everything from scratch, using my husband and daughters, our friends, family, and neighbors as test-tasters. And when I had enough recipes, I started my own website!
In 2007, I launched The Daily Dish. I started posting recipes daily (hence the name), hoping to help myself and others enjoy happier, healthier, salt-free lives. In 2011, I won a Mom Central grant and was able to self-publish my very first cookbook, Kick the Can! I’ve since authored five cookbooks with Simon and Schuster; the latest, The Everything Easy MIND Diet Cookbook, coming May 26, 2026. In 2024, I earned a degree in nutrition, graduating summa cum laude. Good food truly is medicine!
