A refreshing new look!

Good morning everyone. I am happy to announce yesterday’s storm has passed and along with it my shoveling career. Far more exciting however is something you likely noticed right away — the NEW LOOK of The Daily Dish! I last upgraded the site in November 2008. That makeover was extensive; I switched from self coding to a completely new WordPress themed interface. But after two years, a girl gets tired of the same old dress. My husband and I have been planning the revamp for a while, but decided to wait until the new year. And here we are, finally! I couldn’t be more pleased. Green is my very favorite color, and the shade of the site matches that of my kitchen cabinets almost perfectly. So it’s like being in the kitchen even when I’m not! The new interface is much more user friendly too, and I don’t mean strictly easy on the eyes. Try typing a search term into the box at the top – chicken, fish, you name it. If the search term matches a post on the site, POOF! The entries are displayed in a chronologically indexed list, just like a magazine or cookbook. You can then easily scan down the list and see if anything grabs you. I hope you’ll play around with it and see what you think. I know change is hard and fans of the old site may be temporarily nonplussed. But give it a chance. I believe you’ll find it a much better fit, with a soothing style that really makes the photos POP. I’d love to get your feedback. Feel free to comment below – or, as always, you can contact me directly. See you tomorrow!

Like it! Green is my second favorite color. Brown is my first. Odd, I know. :-)

    Love the new look–
I am interested in doing weight watchers points system with low or no salt foods, has anyone tried this and if so I am looking for pros and cons on this subject.

    Thanks

  3. love the new look!!! so serene but i do love a custom header, to be honest. also, please add a twitter button so i can follow your tweets!!! you’re a superstar!

Thanks Tammy! And no, I don’t think brown is an odd color choice. It may be less popular certainly, but there are an infinite array of browns – from ruddy to nearly black. It is a beautiful color!

Thanks for writing, Patty – I appreciate it. As for WW, I’d love for anyone else to jump in and add their two cents. I’ve never used the program myself. My dad has been on diets as long as I’ve been alive, but strangely – NEVER WW!! Anyone???

Thanks Nat! The green puts me in a peaceful, yet hungry frame of mind. Must be the association w/ my kitchen cabinets – hah! I also love a photo header and have one on my other Daily Dish blog (which you of course know) — it’s hard to get everything you want unless you customize. I am trying to expand my tech skillz but they are what they are – at present anyway. I will look into a Twitter button (that shouldn’t be too hard) – as well as CommentLuv, which was also suggested. XO

How do I get to your BLOG?

  6. Christy says:

Hey Abbie! This new platform has to be altered at the top to add links to my blog and photo gallery. (John says he’s on it this morning) Thanks so much for your patience!
