When I spied this recipe on the website of fellow Mom Central grant winner Jessica Nunemaker, I thought WOW!!! Homemade Magic Shell!! I wonder if it really works?! See, I LOVE Magic Shell. What I don’t love is how my kids eat ours and never leave me any. Oh sure, they’ll stow the empty bottle back in the cabinet, so I THINK there’s magic shell to be had. I get all excited, oooh BOY, I’m gonna have a sundae!!! I scoop my ice cream and grab the bottle and squeeze. But no magic, no shell – just a fake-out spit of spray that leaves me stewing. Well, friends, NO MORE! This recipe really works and it couldn’t be simpler. Melt a half cup of chocolate chips with two tablespoons unsalted butter. If you are patient (kudos to you) use the stove top; if you are truly hungry (like me) just put the chips & butter in a microwave safe bowl and nuke for a minute. Stir until smooth and pour over ice cream. No crazy additives or unpronounceable preservatives, just butter and chocolate and happiness. Oh my.
