You know what this means…

Look at those happy smiling faces! If only you could see the happy smiling face behind the camera, too!

It’s been a long hiatus and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to comment, email, or post on the Daily Dish Facebook page in my absence. I apologize for any concern I may have caused. This summer provided a much needed and well deserved break from my life online.  And I am feeling fabulous for it!

My husband and I celebrated our first 4 months of veganism at the end of August.  Despite two back-to-back driving trips – which typically would send me into a tailspin, my Meniere’s symptoms have been almost nonexistent.  I truly believe that a plant-based diet has the power to cure me for good.  I only hope to inspire more of you to give it a try.

My dad is celebrating a year plant-based this month and (exciting news!) will be sharing his first follow-up with the world, complete with before and after blood work.  Prepare to be amazed!

Despite my online absence, I’ve been cooking and baking up a storm this summer and have some scrumptious low-sodium goodies to share.  First up, the most spectacularly moist, melt-in-your-mouth banana bread ever – with ZERO eggs, dairy, and cholesterol!  I’ll be posting that recipe asap, as well as new recipes from the soon-to-be-published Everything DASH Diet Cookbook, and much more.  Stay tuned!!

Glad you are back…we were up in your neck of the woods in July visiting friends in Biddeford. I want a summer home in Maine now…as soon as someone gives me a few million LOL! Your girls are growing like weeds! So cute!

    • Christy says:

WOW! Connie that’s amazing you were here! MAN, I must have been seriously MIA to have missed that! So glad you had a wonderful stay. Please let me know as soon as your summer residence is set up and I will be over tout de suite w/ a house warming gift (and bathing suit and swimmies.) LOL

      Love ya babe! XO

HEY! First, your girls are beautiful!! Second, I can’t believe you went vegan! Good for you and your husband! I’m really glad you are feeling the benefits with your Meniere’s. Can’t wait to see your dad’s results. I had a lipid panel done and it was excellent. I was vegan for a while, but I have included eggs and yogurt back in my diet until some B12 issues are resolved. I’m dealing with some numbness in my legs, and the doctor isn’t sure of the cause.

Anyway…I’m still on hiatus, I think. Haha. Too much has been going on. I should blog about it, eh?

Thanks for your update. You were terribly missed!!! I miss my blogging world. Either my notifications are stalled or most people aren’t writing anymore.

    • Christy says:

HI Tammy! Yes the vegan life is treating us very very well and I’m NEVER going back!! LOL

Hope your issues get resolved quickly. It’s hard to get enough B12 once you give up meat. One thing I’d recommend is nutritional yeast. I incorporate it daily into our meals, whether “hidden” or simply sprinkled on top of dishes. It has a mild cheese-like flavor that really melds well with soups, salads, pasta, etc, and it’s packed with B vitamins and more – super healthy stuff. I’ve used both Red Star Nutritional Yeast and Bragg and both are great. Please try them if you haven’t already and see if it helps.

I have to catch up on all you’ve been up to — can’t wait to see your lovely work! (I hope you’ve been working hard in the studio, I already know how hard you work at home!)

  3. Christy,
I’m so glad you’re back! I was just thinking about how I haven’t seen a blogpost from you in umpteen weeks now! Glad you had a great summer and trips and that your Meniere’s Disease has been “silent” thanks to the Veganism. How exciting! Good for your Dad too–it’s amazing. Looking forward to seeing that cookbook–congratulations, my friend!

    • Christy says:

Cindy, thank you so much!! Yes my Meniere’s symptoms have been soooooo much better these past 4 months. We were even able to travel for vacation down to Virginia and back without issue. Pretty honking amazing! I am convinced the vegan diet has the power to cure me and so many others. Can’t wait to check out your beautiful work — much love to you & the fam! XO

Welcome back, my friend!!! Love the pic of the ladies–they are giants! Today was my 30th ’1st Day of School’ and I had a blast! Missed you and glad vegan ism is having such a great impact on your health.

    • Christy says:

I missed you too, Nat!! Your students are VERY lucky to have you. Hope this year is your best yet!

We’re still readjusting to this “waking up at the crack o’ dawn” schedule — how the heck you’ve done it all these years is astounding. Hey BTW, we just finished the 2nd season of Boardwalk Empire. If you haven’t seen it yet, you must!!

      XO

Wow! I thought I had lost you! We moved and you disappeared even though my email didn’t change. Anyway, after two contacts with your website I was able to re-establish contact and I am delighted!! You have been a light in our lives as we work through sodium challenges. Thank you for being you!!

Awwww shucks, Betsey. I’m willing to post forever simply to get these super sweet comments! I’m happy to help and so glad you’re so appreciative. Congrats on your move; hope you’re settling in well!

  8. Welcome back, Dishy!!!
I’m so happy to hear you had a chance to get a bit of a break after all your hard work! Can’t wait to see what you’ll be cooking-up next! Whatever it is, I know it’ll be great!!!
