Last month my friend Tracy emailed to tell me about a grant contest being held by Mom Central Consulting. I hadn’t heard about it previously, so I went to check it out. From their website:
The Mom Blogosphere is brimming with talented, smart, passionate and ambitious women. We feel so grateful and want to do our part in helping take Moms’ personal brands to the next level. Whether graphic or technical help, a site redesign or self-publishing a book… we want to pitch in to provide the support. So tell us what inspired you in the first place, your journey to take, and what you aspire to do next – because we care, and we want to help!
WOW! In a nutshell, the grant contest will award five bloggers $2000 each. This money can be used in a myriad of ways to improve and promote each of the winning websites. In the case of The Daily Dish, the money would be used to finance a site upgrade: providing complete nutritional information for each recipe, a more user-friendly layout with added visual appeal, a rating system so users can critique recipes, and ideally, a way for users to join, build community and even share their own salt free/low sodium dishes. In addition, grant money would be used to self-publish a salt free/low sodium cookbook of my original recipes available for sale through The Daily Dish. For me, a dream come true!
Yesterday The Daily Dish cleared the first of three hurdles towards winning a grant. My application was accepted! The next hurdle? Open voting by the public. Voting begins today and runs through April 15th. One vote per person per day for the next month and a half. At the end of open voting, the top 15 sites (in terms of votes) across 3 categories (based on blog traffic) move on to panel judging. Judging will be based on two things: Blog Need (40%) and Blog Vision & Aspiration (60%). The panel will select 5 winners from the group of 45. Each of the 5 wins a $2000 grant!
If you value The Daily Dish please take a moment to act. Your vote today, tomorrow, and everyday through April 15th will make a very real difference to the future of this site and to me personally.
VOTING IS OPEN NOW and RUNS THROUGH APRIL 15TH
